Caribbean - P&O IONA Day 19

Cruise - Day 19

Fort de France, Martinique
This French island has all things french. Including language and currency. As soon as you leave the port the island becomes hilly.
We planned to book a taxi to the Balata tropical gardens which would have been 25 euros. However there were another 4 people behind us that were going to the same place. So managed to get a minibus for the 6 of us for 20 euros each return. Make sure you arrange a pickup time.
Tip as there are so many white minibuses, take a photo of the number plate to make sure you get the right one back.

Allow at least 2 hours to walk around, if you like Gardens even more as there is so much to see including a tree top walk. Be aware there can be long queues for that.

There is a small cafe at the entrance.
You need to ware sensible shoes not flip flops, trainers are fine.

Just outside the house there are a number bird feeders where you can spot some humming birds.

Caribbean - P&O IONA Day 1

Cruise - Day 1

Embarkation, Southampton

The promenade deck of P&O Iona.

Arrived on board about 13:30 after all the usual check-in stuff. Which for a change went straight through even with the glucose monitor attached.

Managed to straight to the cabin rather than having to wander around wasting time.
Just about to leave and go to lunch, when the cases turned up. That was really quick.
Went to the Quays restaurant for fish and chips. Which I would recommend.

Food order

Departure from Southampton Docks is due at 21:00 but we are booked into the Headliners theatre for 20:30 so will miss that. It's going to be dark anyway.
